Professional Statement
Dr. Alexander Perez, a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery, joins the Division of Trauma, Bariatric and Acute Care Surgery and is based at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Dr. Perez is passionate about advancing patient-centered care through interprofessional collaboration and lifelong learning. He completed surgical training at Harvard, Tufts and Duke, and earned a master's in health care transformation from the University of Texas at Austin. Over the past two decades, he has led initiatives that integrate minimally invasive techniques and simulation-based training into surgical practice and education. His contributions to clinical teaching and innovation have been recognized with numerous honors, including various teaching awards and induction into the Academy of Master Clinicians at UTMB.
