Professional Statement
I am an academic nuclear medicine physician with over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience in diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine. I am a Professor of Radiology and Medicine and the Division Chief of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging for ÌÇÐÄvlogÃÛÌÒ of Medicine (BCM), one of the top medical schools in the US. I oversee all clinical operations and academic activities of the section, which serves multiple BCM partner hospitals and healthcare systems in the Houston area.
I serve as Chief of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging for BSLMC and the BCM Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. I serve as Chair of the Radiation Safety Program for BSLMC. I am the Director of the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center Theranostics Program and the Director of the BSLMC/THI Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac PET Laboratory.
I serve as the Chief of Nuclear Medicine for Ben Taub Hospital, a level 1 trauma center in the Texas Medical Center, and the Chief of PET/CT for Harris Health System, a safety net county hospital system serving the most vulnerable population in Houston. I am the Chair of that Radiation Safety Committee for HH Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic ACS.
My mission is to advance the field of nuclear medicine through research, education, and patient care. I am an expert in theranostics, radionuclide therapy, and molecular imaging, with a special focus on cardiac PET and thyroid cancer. My research interests include the translation of novel radiopharmaceuticals into human use, with a special interest in personalized Medical Internal Dosimetry. I have published multiple peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts, and have been invited to speak at national and international conferences. I am also passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians and scientists including nuclear medicine physicians, medical physicists, radiologists, cardiologists, and medical students.
