Professional Statement

In 2014, I joined the Center for Educational Outreach as a STEM specialist for the ÌÇÐÄvlogÃÛÌÒ of Medicine Academy at Ryan Middle School, with responsibility for curriculum development and implementation. At the same time, I continued to direct a primate genetics research program at Fordham University and collaborate with the American Museum of Natural History.

Prior to joining Baylor, I conducted genetic research on pathogens and humans at Weill Medical College, Cornell University, and genetic research on plants at Fordham University. My professional career includes teaching hundreds of undergraduates, mentoring high school students, directing educational software and media design projects, helping lay the foundation for a cutting-edge women in science program, and serving as a consulting editor for multimedia science news outlets.
