Michiaki Imamura, M.D., Ph.D. is board certified in General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Cardiovascular Surgery. He specializes in the surgical management of children and adults with congenital heart disease. His clinical interests encompass the full range of congenital heart surgical issues, including the treatment of neonates and infants with congenital heart defects, patients with single ventricle physiology, pediatric heart transplant and treating adults with ongoing congenital heart issues.
Dr. Imamura is passionate about exceptional care of children with congenital heart disease. His academic interests include clinical outcomes research and physiology/anatomy of congenital heart defects. Other academic interests include complex heart failure management, ventricular assist device implantation, and cardiothoracic and congenital surgical education.
Dr. Imamura comes to Texas Children’s from Arkansas Children’s Hospital where he was as a congenital heart surgeon from 2001 to 2017. He served as chief of Pediatric and Congenital Cardiovascular Surgery from 2010 to 2017. Dr. Imamura is a talented and experienced surgeon and is a tremendous asset to the community of Houston, the surrounding region, and our extensive referral network.
